Our pets are like family members, and we want to ensure that we can provide them with the best possible medical care. Along with advances in diagnostics and treatments such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and chemotherapy for various cancers, veterinary costs are climbing. Indian Valley Kennels is pleased to offer our clients pet insurance through the Hartville Group.
In order for us to continue offering you quality and healthy puppies we will be requiring all our breeding stock to go through a health evaluation. They will be OFA'd (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) or PENNHip'd to evaluate their hip health as well as have their eyes checked to confirm their eye health. This will be done through a certified Canine Opthamologist and the results will be registered with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals in their Eye Database.
They will also have a DNA test done for DM (Degenerative Myolopathy) as we have found that some of our stock are carriers of the gene. By doing the DNA test we insure that we don't breed two carriers together. By making sure we breed a carrier only to a non-carrier helps ensure we eliminate any chance any of our pups will become affected with this disorder.
